BACKGROUND The proposed areas of Gillespie Street, Fink Street, and the adjacent alley will be consolidated into Lot 1 of Gillespie's Second Addition. This proposed vacated area is a part of the West 32"d Street Detention Basin. The abutting properties are owned by the City of Dubuque. DISCUSSION The City has no plans for the utilization of Gillespie Street, Fink Street, and the adjacent alley to be vacated except as use for the detention basin. RECOMMENDATION would recommend that Gillespie Street, Fink Street, and the adjacent alley in the City of Dubuque, Dubuque County, Iowa as shown on the attached plat of Lot 1 of Gillespie's Second Addition be vacated, and that a public hearing be held for the disposition of the public interest in the subject area on February 16, 2009. ACTION TO BE TAKEN The attached plat and resolution vacating the property should be submitted to the City Council for consideration and approval. Prepared by Ronald J. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA: Section 1. That the plat of Lot 1 of Gillespie's Second Addition dated January 23, 2009 prepared by MSA Professional Services, Inc. relative to the real estate hereinabove described be and the same is hereby approved, and the Mayor and City Clerk be and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute said plat for and on behalf of the City of Dubuque, Iowa. Section 2. That the City Clerk be and is hereby authorized and directed to file said plat and certified copy of this resolution in the office of the Recorder in and for Dubuque County, Iowa.
