Duggan, Mayor City of Dubuque City Hall 50 W. 13th Street Dubuque, IA 52001 Project: Dubuque Shot Tower Dear Mr. Duggan: Thank you for your application for a Fiscal Year 2002 Save America's Treasures Historic Preservation Fund grant. Unfortunately, your project was not selected for funding. A total of 389 applications requesting nearly $154 million were submitted to compete for the funds available. Accordingly, the competition was intense, and many worthy projects, such as yours, could not be funded. We appreciate the time and effort spent developing your proposal and hope that you are successful in identifying other sources of support. A complete list of 2002 and previous years' grants is available at the National Park Service website, www2.er.nps.gov/treasures/index.htm and at the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities website, w~n~'.pcah.gov. President Bush has requested funding for Save America's Treasures grants in his fiscal year 2003 budget submitted to Congress, and Congress has included this funding in their markup of the appropriations bill. We will include you on the mailing list for future notices about the Save America's Treasures grant program. The National Park Service administers the grants in collaboration with the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Institute for Museum and Library Services. Questions about the review of your application or the Save America's Treasures grants program may be directed to the National Park Service at (202) 513-7270, press 6. Sincerely, Joseph T.
