RESOLUTION NO. 585-02
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE REFERENDUM ON THE CONTINUATION
OF GAMING IN DUBUQUE COUNTY, IOWA
WHEREAS, thers will be a question on the continuation of gaming in Dubuque
County on the November 5, 2002 general election ballot; and
WHEREAS, the Dubuque Greyhound Park and Casino and the Diamond Jo
Casino welcomed nearly two million visitors to their facilities in the past year; and
WHEREAS, the Dubuque Greyhound Park and Casino and the Diamond Jo
Casino employ over 1,000 Dubuque area residents with an annual payroll of more than
$22 million; and
WHEREAS, the Dubuque Greyhound Park and Casino and the Diamond Jo
Casino are highly regulated, safe, fun and affordable entertainment and are committed
to responsible gaming; and
WHEREAS, the Dubuque Greyhound Park and Casino and the Diamond Jo
Casino have contributed mots than $26 million to the City of Dubuque since beginning
operations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OEDUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Dubuque supports the continuation
of gaming in Dubuque County.
Section 2. That all electors are encouraged to study the issue and cast an
informed vote on the issue of the continuation of gaming in Dubuque County on
November 5, 2002.
