SUBJECT:Fengler Street, Manson Road and Cousins Road Bridge Weight Limit
Postings
Public Works Director Mike Koch is recommending adoption of an ordinance to remove
the 5-ton load limit for the Fengler Street and Manson Road Bridges, because these
bddges have been replaced by new structures and the weight restrictions no longer
apply, and placing a 20-ton load limit on the Cousins Road Bridge.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

SUBJECT:Fengler Street, Manson Road, and Cousins Road Bridge Weight
Limit Postings
INTRODUCTION
The following is a request to remove the weight limits on the Fengler Street and
the Manson Road Bridges. The Cousins Road Bridge was annexed into the City
on July 13, 1999. Previous inspections have indicated that the Cousins Road
Bridge should be posted for a 20-ton weight limit.
BACKGROUND
Both the Fengler Street and Manson Road Bridges have been replaced by new
structures and the weight restrictions no longer apply.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council amend the current ordinance and remove
the 5-ton weight limit from Fengler Street and Manson Road Bridges and add a
20-ton weight limit to the Cousins Road Bridge.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN
The City Council is requested to adopt the attached ordinance removing the 5-
ton load limit from the Fengler Street and Manson Road Bridges and placing a
20-ton load limit to the Cousins Road Bridge.

ORDINANCE NO. 92-02
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 32-185(a) OF THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE CODE OF ORDINANCES PROHIBITING HEAVY VEHICLES
ON CERTAIN BRIDGES BY REMOVING THE WEIGHT LIMIT ON
FENGLER STREET AND MANSON ROAD BRIDGES AND ADDING A
WEIGHT LIMIT ON COUSINS ROAD BRIDGE
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1.
That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Dubuque, Iowa
be amended by deleting from Subsection (a) of Section 32~
185 as follows:
(a)
When signs are erected giving notice thereof, no
person shall operate a vehicle exceeding the posted
gross vehicle weight limits on, or over the following
bridges:
Fengler Street 5 Tons
Manson Road Bridge 5 Tons
Section 2.
That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Dubuque, Iowa
be amended by adding to Subsection (a) of Section 32-185
as follows:
(a)
