News Release
BLACK HILLS ENERGY UPDATES SIGNS AND VEHICLES WITH NEW LOGO
DUBUQUE, Iowa, Dec. 16, 2008 -Black Hills Energy, formerly Aquila, announced
today that its re-branding process continues to move forward. Customers will start seeing the
new Black Hills Energy logo on facility signs and vehicles throughout its Colorado, Iowa,
Kansas and Nebraska natural gas and electric service territories.
"We've worked to provide a smooth transition for our customers since the acquisition
in July," said Black Hills Energy Operations Manager of Eastern Iowa Natural Gas
Operations, Mark Ernst. "Although our name has changed to Black Hills Energy, safety,
reliability and customer service remain our highest priorities."
In addition to buildings and vehicles, customers will continue to see the new Black
Hills Energy branding on their monthly bill, on service crew uniforms, and on other company
promotional materials and in ads. The majority of re-branding for Black Hills Energy is
scheduled to be complete by the end of the year.
The company notified customers and the public of the acquisition and name change
through various means of communication after the sale was finalized. Black Hills Energy's
customers, state and municipal officials and other leaders in Iowa communities have received
letters and mailers that announced the completion of the sale and also provided new customer
and emergency phone numbers. Additionally, the company placed newspaper ads
announcing the name change in communities served by Black Hills Energy. The customer
newsletter included with November bills featured information about the re-branding, and
another mailing was sent to customers last week.
