Proclam Tres-Rivieres Sister CtPROCI AMATION
WHEREAS,
our City of Dubuque, Iowa is honored to have representatives from
Trois.Rivieres, Quebec, Canada visiting us on November 22, 2002
with the hope of establishing a Sister-City relationship at this time;
and
WHEREAS, Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada is the home of Julien Dubuque, our
City's namesake, which in itself is a unique affiliation; and
WHEREAS,
both cities were frontier cities and from their humble beginnings,
have established centers for manufacturing, education and enjoy
similar cultural and recreational activities; and
WHEREAS,
both Dubuque and Trois-Rivieres are mid-sized cities of over 50,000
citizens, both are architecturally beautiful cities on the banks of
rivers with the rugged topography inherent in that placement and
both have many local industries and prize their good, solid citizens;
and
WHEREAS,
because of so many similarities and inherent good will a Sister-City
relationship is mutually beneficial to both Dubuque, Iowa and Trois-
Rivieres, Quebec and will provide information, cooperation and
support for many years.
NOW THEREFORE, I, TERRANCE M. DUGGAN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE,
IOWA, USA WELCOME MAYOR YVES L~VESQUE OF TROIS-RlVlERIES, QUEBEC,
CANADA AND EXTEND OUR SINCERE BEST WISHES AND CORDIAL WELCOME TO
THE VISITORS FROM THEIR FAIR CITY.
