Van Milligen MCVM/jh Attachment cc: Barry Lindahl, Corporation Counsel Cindy Steinhauser, Assistant City Manager David Harris, Housing and Community Development Department Director CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA MEMORANDUM 25 November 02 To: Mike Van Milligen, City Manager From: David Harris, Housing and Community Development Department Re: Section 8 computer system replacement Introduction The purpose of this memorandum is to request your approval of an expenditure of $15 000 for purchase ora Section 8 Program software package to be used with our new replacement computers. Discussion The Section 8 Program computers have been scheduled for replacement during this fiscal year. These computers will have a Windows-based operating environment. The current software system the Section 8 staff uses is an R-DOS operating environment, meaning that it will be incompatible with the new computers. For this reason, we must replace the software system currently in use. In response to a request-for-preposals, we have selected the system offered by MCS, the same vendor we currently are using and have used for the Section 8 activity since 1994. This system has been bid at $15 000. Section 8 (Fund 230) reserve funds are available for this purpose. CC: Pauline Joyce
