Seipple Rd. wideningPrepared by: Laura Carstens, City Planner Address: City Hall, 50 W. 13th Street Telephone: 589-42'10 ORDINANCE NO. 3 - 00 AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE STREET NAME OF THE NORTH '1,300 FEET OF COTTINGHAM ROAD TO SEIPPEL ROAD Whereas, the City of Dubuque City Council has approved widening, repaving, reconfiguration and extension of Seippel Road from Old Highway Road to the new Cottingham Road intersection all in the City of Dubuque, Iowa; and Whereas, City and County staff recommend that the street name be changed for consistency; and Whereas, the City Council desires to change the above described north 1,300 feet of Cottingham Road to Seippel Road. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA: Section 1. That the north 1,300 feet of Cottingham Road be renamed to Seippel Road as shown on Exhibits 1 and 2. Section 2. That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to endorse the approval of the City of Dubuque, Iowa, upon such changing of street names and to file notice of the change with the County Recorder, County Auditor and City Assessor of Dubuque, Iowa. Cottingham Road will then intersect with Seippel Road 1,300 feet south of Old Highway Road. I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council approval. Van Milligen, City Manager FROM: Laura Carstens, Planning Services Manager SUBJECT: Request to rename the north 1,300 feet of Cottingham Road to Seippel Road As part of the west side industrial park development, the City of Dubuque has widened, repaved, reconfigured and extended part of Seippel Road. Dudng this process, the north 1,300 feet of Cottingham Road was replaced by the new Seippel Road extension between Old Highway Road and Highway 20. The Cottingham Road intersection has been moved to a new location 1,300 south of Old Highway Road. Planning Services staff are recommending that the north 1,300 feet of Cottingham Road be renamed to Seippel Road for consistency. This recommendation has been reviewed by an Addressing Committee composed of City and County staff and a representative of the U.S. Postal Service. All committee members concurred with this recommendation. An ordinance is attached for the City Council's review that formally changes the name of the north 1,300 feet of Cottingham Road to Seippel Road. Staff recommend that the Council approve the attached ordinance.
