Good morning,
I am writing to inform you that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is announcing Federal grants for the State of
Iowa. This funding is as follows
IA DR- Total 75% HMGP MIT City of Dubuque- This project will fund
1705 Project an upgrade to the City of Dubuque's
Cost sewer system. The proposed project will
$1,914,250 eliminate reoccurring flooding and sewer
Federal backups in 71 homes and the North Fork
Share: Catfish Creek
$1,435,688
FEMA-1705-DR-IA was declared May 25,
2007, due to severe storms, tornadoes and
floods.
IA 1763- Total Project 90% PA G Warren County Secondary Roads -
7773 Cost Elkhorn Street Pedestrian Bridge
$1,186,353.00 Iemolition and Replacement
FEMA Share During the incident period beginning
$1,067,717.70 May 25, 2008, and continuing through
August 13, 2008, severe storms with
heavy rains and strong winds caused
surface run-off, flooding, and downed
trees that severely damaged the Elkhorn
Street Pedestrian Bridge. Damages
included a 100 feet washout of the
bridge span, structural damage to the
remaining bridge segments, and a log
jam of approximately 6,700 cubic yards
of woody debris against the bridge
remains.
This Project Worksheet is written to
reimburse the Applicant for woody
debris removal, demolition and removal
of the remaining bridge components,
and replacement bridge costs. Based on
the damages incurred, FEMA personnel
examined the bridge and determined
replacement to be eligible. The repair
cost is greater than 50 percent of the
replacement cost to restore the bridge to
its pre-disaster use at the time of the
disaster. The estimate is based on a
CEF estimate prepared by FEMA using
R.S. Means.

6957 Cost Debris Removal -Emergency Public
$1,678,234.62 Health and Safety
FEMA Share During the incident period beginning
$1,510,411.16 May 25, 2008, and continuing through
August 13, 2008, flooding of the Cedar
River caused substantial damage to
structures on 70 properties in Cedar
Rapids (Linn County). These properties
were determined to be an immediate
threat to public health and safety and all
demolition debris will be handled and
treated as regulated asbestos containing
material (RACM).
This Project Worksheet is written to
reimburse the Applicant for the
demolition of 70 properties and the
disposal of demolition debris at an
approved facility. The estimate is based
on contract estimates provided by the
Applicant.
IA 1763- Total Project 90% PA C City of Cedar Rapids -Well Field
8451 Cost Roads
$1,420,493.34 During the incident period beginning
FEMA Share May 25, 2008, and continuing through
$1,278,444.01 August 13, 2008, the Cedar River
crested causing flood damage to the
Well Field Roads in Cedar Rapids (Linn
County). The flood water washed away
approximately 26,655 cubic yards of
coarse stone and deposited
approximately 8,333 cubic yards of
sand on service roads. The Well Field
Roads are located in three sites along
the Cedar River including, the West
Well Field, the East Well Field, and the
Seminole Well Field.
This Project Worksheet is written to
reimburse the Applicant for the
restoration of the Well Field Roads
including the removal of sediments, the
hauling of excavated material,
aggregating the surface course,
scarification, shaping, and compacting.
The estimate reflects a cost estimate
prepared by FEMA using RS Means
Cost Works.
