SUBJECT: East-West Corridor Connectivity Study - Work Session
This memorandum is to recommend scheduling a City Council work session on the East -
West Corridor Connectivity Study on Monday, July 20, 2009.
DISCUSSION
On August 29, 2007, the City Council listed the completion of the East -West Corridor
Study as a "High Priority" on its Goals and Priorities for Policy Agenda 2007 - 2008. The
US 20 corridor is the primary east-west route in the City of Dubuque and future traffic
projections indicate US 20 alone will not provide sufficient capacity for east-west travel in
the city. Capacity along alternate east-west corridors will need to be improved to provide
connectivity between the western growth areas and the downtown.
On February 18, 2008, the City Council approved the consultant selection of HDR (Omaha,
NE)/IIW Engineers & Surveyors, PC (Dubuque) to complete the Study.
The proposed work session will provide HDR/IIW an opportunity to update the City Council
and interested parties on the progress and preliminary findings to date.
ACTION TO TAKEN
I respectfully request that a City Council work session be scheduled for 5 PM Central Time
on Monday, July 20, 2009, to provide an update on the East -West Corridor Connectivity
Study.
