Dubuque Drum and Bugle CorpsMay 7, 2009 Mayor Roy Buol Dubuque City Council 50 West 13"' Street Dubuque, IA 52001 Dear Mayor Buol and Council Members, First, Mr. Buol, thank you for visiting with us in Washington DC the day before the Inaugural Parade. Your visit and your remarks were very meaningful for all of us. Our annual Music on the March show is Tuesday, June 30 and this year's show features one of the best line ups in years, including SIX of the top FIFTEEN corps in the world. Our `second' show, Music on the March 2 will be Friday, July 31, and will feature Seven open class corps, such as the Colt Cadets in season-ending excellence. It's important to note, too, that Dubuque is one of only two cities in the country to be given the opportunity to host two shows. First, I would like to invite you and all members of the Council to attend Music on the March, and we anticipate an audience of around 2,200 people. It is consistently one of the largest outdoor events in Dubuque every year. You and members of the council would certainly be welcome to address the audience as well. Secondly, would you be willing to issue a proclamation welcoming the audience and congratulating the participants and Colts supporters? Of significance is the over 1,200 young people who will perform at Music on the March alone. We also respectfully request Council action on two items, as appropriate: 1) An exemption for any noise ordinance round Senior High School. We will be playing outdoors until approximately 10:30 p.m. June 30 and until approximately 10:00 p.m. on July 31. 2) An exemption for residential parking limitations around Senior High School for both shows. Many spectators are from out of town and will not be familiar with the parking restrictions, and the sheer size of the crowd will spill into all possible parking spaces. I have enclosed a copy of last year's program for your reference and a fact sheet about both shows. Thank you very much for yom• consideration and on-going support.
