Checkouts to Dubuque cardholders decreased 5% � comp�red to October of 2016; however, checkouts to Open A�c�ss patrons increased 10% cor�pared to the same t�me last , year. The roof replacement, previously sch�duled, is postponed. We can request this again during next year's budget cycfe. 4) Marketing llpdate - Red Rokk Marketing will be on-site in Janua rY of 201� to work with staff and stakeholders, and get to know the Library and community before preparing the campaign, which will launch in early 2018. ' , , Mr. and Mrs. �ohn Butler proposed t� purchase App�aisa/and !/icto�sar� �urvi�al in the amount ofi $4,000,000. The understar�dir�g is that Mr. and Mrs. Butier would hold t1�e paintings for a y�ar, accrue a tax benef�t, and use this to su ort tne Dubu ue Museum of Art. The � pp q Mus�um �greed to design�te a part�cular gallery with naming ri hts, g fr�e �dmission, year-r+ound, t�o that dedicated space, and provide clear contractual language in the agreement that would pr�vent the � M�seum fron� selling the paintir�gs, and if a sale w�re considered the Library would have the right to purchase th� p�intings for $1. Libr�ry, an�d the�Board, as responsible st�wards it may not be in the best interest of the Libra to rY . � consider selling the works for 18% of their value. The paintings are the Libr�ry's greatest asset as stewards of th�se Po emiller stated that g9 �°we must consider the ramif�cations of the s�le and what the Library would gain." Mullin said the �oard has fiducia res onsibili for the �Y p tY future of the Library �nd it would be irresponsible to sell at �8% of the value. Armstrong said there is no reason to change the , ownership as long as they are staying in Dubuque; he is satisfied with ; where the paintings are located. Gorton asked if the number was fiirm; � � Kramer confirmed she had asked this question and $4 million is the ; � � � ; � 3 � � ., � i number. Kramer said for her, what is most troubling is the perception that the Library would do something other than keep them here. Poggemiller said there have been issues regarding the contract and a letter has been written to address these concerns. She plans to meet with the Museum of Art President, Russell Knight, to discuss the issues that have come up. Gorton asked about the length of the contract. � Poggemiller reported 25 years, and it has now been 10. Gorton asked � � about the appraisal process of art and does it always increase. � Henricks noted that in many cases this is unpredictabie and subjective.
