SUBJECT:Final Acceptance of the Old U.S. Highway 20 Water Main Extension
Project
Water Department Manager Bob Green is recommending acceptance of the Old U.S.
Highway 20 Water Main Extension Project, as completed by McDermott Excavating, in
the final contract amount of $105,392.35.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

SUBJECT:Final Acceptance of the Old U. S. Highway 20 Water Main Extension
Project
INTRODUCTION: This memorandum is recommending final acceptance of the Old
U. S. Highway 20 Water Main Extension at a final cost of $105,392.35.
DISCUSSION: On June 3, 2002 the City of Dubuque Water Department entered into
an agreement with McDermott Excavating of Dubuque, Iowa for the installation of
approximately 2,600 feet of 12 inch ductile iron water main along the north side of Old
U. S. Highway 20 fTom intersection of Seippel Road and proceeding east on Highway
20 past the east entrance of the Dubuque County Fairgrounds.
This improvement will supply water service to the Fairgrounds and is a part of a
mulfiphase project in providing a second water main feed line to the Westside Industrial
Park.
ACTION REQUESTED: Staff and I are requesting your approval and recommendation
to the City Council that they adopt the two resolutions, one approving the project and
one approving the final project cost of $105,392.35 and authorizing final payment to
McDermott Excavating in the amount of $5,269.62 in accordance with the State of Iowa
Statues.

ACCEPTING IMPROVEMENT
Whereas, the Contract for the Old U. S. Highway 20 Water Main Extension
Improvement Project has been completed and the City's Consultant I. I. W. Engineers
and Surveyors of Dubuque, Iowa recommend acceptance of the project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the recommendation of the City Manager be approved and that
said improvement be accepted.

FINAL ESTIMATE
Whereas, the contract for the Old U. S. Highway 20 Water Main Extension
Improvement Project has been completed and the City has submitted the final estimate
showing the cost thereof.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLEVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY Of DUBUQUE, IOWa:
Section 1. That the cost of said improvement is hereby determined to be
$105,392.35 dollars.
Section 2. That the final payment $5,269.62 be paid to McDermott Excavating
in accordance with State Statues from funds in the Water Department's FY '03 CIP
Budget.
