Dear Mayor and Council Members:
Radio Dubuque, Inc,, parent company of AM 1370 KDTH, 92.9 KAT
FM and 97.3 KGRR would like to request the closure of Kermedy Road from the
stoplight at Wacker to the stop sign at University and Dodge at two separate times
on Wednesday, July 2, 2003. The times of the closure are yet to be determined,
but would last no more than thirty minutes at a time.
The reason for the closure is to use the road for landing and taking-offof a
Pitts aerobatic plane that we will taxi or tow to the Kennedy Mall parking lot as
part of our Amerifest Celebration in conjunction with our July 3rd Independence
Day celebration. We have been in contact with most of the businesses in the area
that will be affected and will continue to pursue this matter. Response has been
positive.
In addition the FAA is aware of this request and along with the pilot has
viewed the area and both have given their approval.
Many things have to fall in place to make this happen. Weather is a factor
that we will have to deal with on that day.
We will need the support of the fire and police departments on that day
along with the Dubuque Regional Airport. We will work very closely with all
involved to make this a safe and enjoyable event with as little inconvenience to
the businesses and public as possible.
As always, we appreciate the support of the city agencies and we look
forward to working with you to make this event possible.
