Mr. Mayor and Members:
I would appreciate it if I might be on your agenda for the July 20th
meeting.
I have concerns with the rules and regulations governing Home Owners
Associations. We do have Covenants and by-laws but I find that in the
past year our Board has had frequent meeting which were not open to
our members in fact they often are not made open to us.
My major concern is the "Open Meetings Laws". I recently went to Sen.
Grassley's town meeting on June 30th and asked him about the Sunshine
Laws and open meetings. The Sen. told us he lived in an association and
all their meetings are "open". He started by saying most meetings in
Wash. DC are open.
He suggested I work with our local authorities about this issue and that is
what I wish to discuss with you.
