7. Narrative Description:
This property is located in the Cathedral Historic District StyleNear: 1956, modern building
Alterations: Permits note new porch in 1938, "rebuild brick building" 1956 ($8,000).
Landscaping/Setting: level parcel on alley east of Bluff, fronts south
8. Narrative Statement of Significance:
Original Owner/Builder: Louis A and Genevieve Pfohl.
Building History: N. C. Ryan owned this property when it was sewered June 17, 1913.
Louis A and Genevieve Pfohl purchased this property in 1956. They had the structure on the property
rebuilt using concrete block. It had a flat roof and the outside measurements were 33 1/3 feet x 64 %
feet On January 1, 1991. the Raymond L. Kirpis Trust became the owner of the building. In April of
2003 a 4/12 pitched steel roof and gutters were installed on the cement block structure.
Since 1956 this structure has housed the business begun by Louis A and Genevieve Pfohl. It was
originally know as Venetian Blind Sales and Service; then it became Pfohl Venetian Blind Company. It
evolved into a complete interior window covering sales and services business. On December 21, 1964.
the business was incorporated under the name it is still known today - Pfohl's Inc.
