DeForrest Rose House Name of Property 195 Alpine Address Dubuque County Dubuque City 7. Narrative Description: This property is located in the Langworthy Historic District. StyleNear: c.1909-10, Colonial Revival style, broad low hip roof centered dormer, paired windows, gable ends project well beyond the end walls, diamond lights in upper sash on upper floor and in dormer. Physical Description: Two-story gable front rectangular 28x32 plan with partial width 1 Ox19 front porch in southeast corner, stuccoed exterior, three-sided one-story bay on east end. Stone foundation. Noted Attic is Cedar Shingle Siding -as original. Alterations: Rough stucco repair work, second story porch addition has reused window set from original fayade opening, flat roof, eaves cut back. Permits note re-roofings in 1938,1951,1966,1982,1995 (porches in 1946), garage re-roofing in 1996 and post repair on the porch in 1996. Landscaping/Setting: house actually fronts on Langworthy Street. 8. Narrative Statement of Significance: Original Owner/Builder: G. DeForest and Louise B. Rose, secretary-treasurer of Spahn & Rose Lumber Co. was the first listed occupant 1911-12. They remained here until 1954. Building History: The sewer tap dates to November 13, 1906. (Owner information). 9.
