W. and Genevieve Parker House Dubuque Name of Property County 263 Hill Dubuque Address City 7. Narrative Description: This property is located in the Langworthy Historic District. Style/Year: 1897-98, Colonial Revival/ late Queen Anne/Shingle, Queen Anne core modified by porch changes, Shingle style is embodied in the curved shingled lines of the gable front window and the concentric shingling pattern above it. Colonial Revival is embodied in the pediment-ed porch entryway with decorative frieze (compare to 135, 225, 265 Alpine). Physical Description: This two-story irregular squarish core (34x44) has a combination pavilion/bay (4x13) gabled front wing and a south facing gabled wing (11x3) on the southwest corner. An exterior chimney of dark brick is tucked into the resulting southeast corner. The exterior is shingled on the gable fronts and upper level, and sheathed with narrow clapboard on the ground floor, floors are distinguished by a wooden belt course and a concave shingle projection. The porch measures 9’6”x22, a south wing 12x5. Stone foundation. Alterations: Porch as noted. Landscaping/Setting: Level site with east-facing orientation. 8. Narrative Statement of Significance: Original Owner/Builder: Thos. W. and Genevieve Parker were the first listed residents, 1898. He sold mens’ and women’s furnishing goods at 730-36 Main. They remained through 1918. Building History: Eben Busby here 1921+. O. S. Langworthy owned the parcel when it was sewered. 9.
