7. Narrative Description:
This property is located in the Langworthy Historic District. Style/Year: 1924-25, Dutch Colonial
Revival.
Physical Description: Two-story gambrel rectangular plan (22x32) with elongated shed roof wall
dormers. An unusual feature is the substitution of wood shingle coverings for the lower portions of the
roof surface. The entryway has a pedimented gable roof porch. The entry has sidelights but no
transom. There is an east end single story wing (14x9) with a tuck-under garage. The upper sash
have Craftsman style lights. Concrete foundation.
Alterations: Permits note a re-roofing in 1976 and basement garage addition with deck in 1991
($17,744).
Landscaping/Setting: High terraced site with driveway to the east of the north-facing house, garage
under east end.
8. Narrative Statement of Significance:
Original Owner/Builder: John G. and Rose Chalmers were the first listed residents here in 1925. He
was a lawyer.
Building History: The Edward Langworthy Estate owned the parcel when it was sewered, the tap dates
to April 13, 1923.
