That evening, the UD Spartans will host the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers - "under the lights" - in what promises to be an exciting contest for new Spartan Head Coach Stan Zweifel. The contest will begin at 7:00 p.m., Central Daylight Time After the game's completion at approximately 10:30 p.m., the University proposes to have a twenty-minute fireworks display following the plan from 2008. The plan specified a discharge zone on the baseball field at the south point of the left field line. Mr. David Olivares, UD's director of security, will spearhead our coordination between Dubuque Fire and Police and UD Security to ensure the safety and security of faculty, students, and guests -including parking and traffic control. We know we need to complete the Special Event Permit Application together with necessary documents (e.g. Certificate of Liability Insurance, Indemnity Agreement, etc.) as well as secure a licensed fireworks display company and determine detailed arrangements with the Dubuque Fire Department. Over 2,000 guests -people from across the region -were on hand for the inaugural night game in the Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center Stadium in 2008, and we anticipate with real pleasure hosting everyone again this year. We respectfully ask the City Council's permission to move forward in the planning of this important Dubuque community event. nicer ly, ~~/~/ G~~""` J ffrey F.
