ACCEPTING THE BEE BRANCH FLOODWALL PUMPING STATION
AUXILIARY POWER PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF THE
CONTRACT AMOUNT TO THE CONTRACTOR
Whereas, the Public Improvement Contract for the Bee Branch Floodwall
Pumping Station Auxiliary Power Project (the Project) has been completed and the City
Engineer has examined the work and filed a certificate stating that the Project has been
completed according to the terms of the Public Improvement Contract and that the City
Engineer recommends that the Project be accepted; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. The recommendation of the City Engineer is approved and the Project
is hereby accepted.
Section 2. The Finance Director is hereby directed to pay to the Contractor from
the General Fund (DRA Gaming) appropriation for the contract amount of $338,758.00
less any retained percentage provided for therein as provided in Iowa Code chapter
573, and to pay such retainage only in accordance with the provisions of Iowa Code
chapter 573.

Public Works Director Don Vogt is recommending acceptance of the Bee Branch
Floodwall Pumping Station Auxiliary Power Project, as completed by A&G Electric, in
the final contract amount of $338,758, which is an 8.45% decrease ($31,280) from the
original contract amount.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

Introduction
The attached resolution provides for the acceptance of the construction contract for the
Bee Branch Floodwall Pumping Station Auxiliary Power Project.
Discussion
Work has been completed on the project by A&G Electric of Dubuque, Iowa in the final
contract amount of $338,758.00. I am recommending that the City Council accept the
improvements and final contract price to be established at $338,758.00, which is an
8.45% decrease from the original contract by the amount of $31,280. The decrease
cost of this project is due to design changes made to the sound attenuation enclosure
and enclosure paint color.
