MILLER ROAD WATER MAIN EXTENSION PROJECT
APPROVAL OF PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS, FORM OF CONTRACT, AND
ESTIMATED COST FOR THE MILLER ROAD WATER MAIN EXTENSION PROJECT.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
That the proposed plans, specifications, form of contract and estimated cost for
the Miller Road Water Main Extension, in the estimated amount of $170,855.90, are
hereby approved.

SUBJECT: Miller Road Water Main Extension Project - CIP 740 1411
INTRODUCTION
The attached Resolution is in reference to the Public Hearing on the Plans and
Specifications Form of Contract for the Miller Road Water Main Extension Project.
BACKGROUND
The Eagle Point Water Plant provides the City with its potable water through the Cities
Water Distribution System. Currently the existing public water main ends at 1301 Miller
Road. Numerous residents of Miller Road have petitioned the City for water availability
on Miller Road in the City limits.
DISCUSSION
The scope of this project consists of installing approximately 1,675 feet of 8" diameter
Ductile Iron Water Main in the Miller Road Right of Way from the current terminus of the
existing Water Main near 1301 Miller Road to the end of pavement near 1869 Miller
Road.
BUDGET IMPACT
The estimate of probable cost for the Miller Road Water Main Extension Project is as
follows:
Construction Contract $ 139,869.00
Contingency 13,986.90
Construction Engineering & Inspection 17,000.00
Total Estimated Project Cost $ 170,855.90
NOTE: This project will be funded through the City Water Department FY2009 CIP
Fund Code 740 1411).
RECOMMENDATION
I am recommending that the City Council adopt the Resolution approving the Plans,
Specifications, Form of Contract and the Estimated Cost for the Miller Road Water Main
Extension Project.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN
The City Council is requested to approve the attached Resolution adopting the Plans,
Specifications, Form of Contract and the Estimated Cost for the Miller F~oad Water Main
Extension Project.
