F. and Pauline Frudden House Name of Property 1027 West Third Address Dubuque County Dubuque City 7. Narrative Description: This property is located in the Langworthy Historic District. StyleNear: c.1904, Colonial Revival, embodied in simplicity of massing, modillions, Palladian attic light set and porch pillars. Physical Description: two-story gable front with rectangular plan (54x28), shallow east wing (three-sided bay, 2x15), three-sided bay on right half of the fayade (3x15), and a wrap-around square-cut porch (36' frontage, 30' depth, 8' wide) covers the entire front. Modillions project beneath the broad eaves, square porch pillars are fluted and Doric capitals. These are based on ashlar stone piers. Foundation of stone narrow clapboard exterior. Alterations: Very well preserved. Permits note re-roofings in 1933, 1965, 1979 (east side), porch in 1990, all in 1995, conversion to two-family in 1942 ($1,500), garage built in 1968 ($3,500). Assessor notes 21 x26 garage demolition, 1968, removal of rear steps and concrete stoop replacement 1968, new basement level attached garage, 24x24, 1968. Landscaping/Setting: level site, south-facing property on corner (Winona) location. Garage reached from the north. 8. Narrative Statement of Significance: Original Owner/Builder: A. F. and Pauline Frudden were the first listed residents, 1905. He was president of Frudden Lumber Co. Building History: Robert Musser here 1918-21. The Clemonson family owned the parcel when it was sewered. The house outline is sketched on a c.1895 sewer map and labled Clemonson. Robert Mulgrew etal owner as of 1955 through 1963, sells to Marvin and Lela West. 9.
