Narrative Description: This property is located in the West Eleventh Street Historic District. Style/Year: pre-1872/1886 (Assessor), broader gable front two-story brick vernacular side hall residence plan. Physical Description: square plan (30x24 with 16’6”x11’6” east wing), stone foundation, symmetrical fenestration with left side front entrance, metal lintels and sills, narrow attic full-length light, two-story side wing, square cut offset entry porch (L-plan, 11’6”x14) covers entry, garage with shed roof is post- 1950, house had two long run of steps and these are not completely covered or enclosed by the garage and an angled glassed in structure. Rear frame porch enclosed (6’6”x19). Alterations: Long shed roof dormer added to west roof plane, east wing was raised up with a frame extension in the southeast corner in 1971, appears to be brick to 1.5 story height. Porch and walk covers recent. Permits note re-roofings in 1945, 1973, 1998, soffits and fascia work 1975, replacement of 6x12 front porch 1995. Porch reopened since 1986. Landscaping/Setting: deeply set back and elevated on top of a very high terrace with a low stone retaining wall and terrace. Fronts north. 8. Narrative Statement of Significance: Building History: Permits note a re-roofing in 1997, new front porch 1933, new dormer 1937, new porch 1939, construction of concrete bank garage 1968 ($450), general remodeling 1990 ($20,000). Jas. H. Russell owned the parcel when it was sewered c.1889. th First directory listing, 1899, lists H. L. Skemp at 72 West 14, Skemp and J. E. Conant here 1899, Henry L. Skemp here 1918, Harry L.
