I completely oppose US military intervention in Iraq. I have particpated in the Washington Park protest fight here in Dubuque as well as the January 18 protest in our nation's capitol which drew 500,000 people. I want to bring to your attention the fact that 72 city councils throughout the nation, including San Francisco, Sacramento, Chicago, Des Moines, and Madison have all passed resolutions opposing war in Iraq. Campaigns are underway in 85 other cities to get resolutions passed, including Davenport, Decorah, and Iowa City. In addition, the Maine Senate and Hawaii House of Representatives have both passed an anti-war resolution. For more information, go to <www.cifiesforpeace.org>; I am calling on you to ask the city council to pass a similar resolution opposing war. If this action requires gathering petitions, I have already started. I have also begun a campaign for the Clarke Student Association to pass an anti-war resolutiom I would welcome any questions you have and I appreciate the time and effort you put into making this city a better place to live.
