Narrative Description: This property is located in the West Eleventh Street Historic District. Style/Year: 1897-98, post-1889, pre-1909, Queen Anne style (bay, massing, picture window with transom). Physical Description: two-story frame gable roof L-plan (28x26 rectangle with right side wing, 4x14) with single story rear wing (12x26), west three-sided bay with paired brackets capping each cutaway (2x9), gable roof cap, rounded single attic light in front (Italianate style), wood belt course defines base of gable front, stone foundation, wooden water table, left hand entry, wrap around hip roof porch (29’ frontage, 19’ depth) with original turned posts. Alterations: asbestos siding. Permits note a re-roofing in 1979, fire damage repaired 1941 ($200). Frame garage, 10x21, removed 1977. Landscaping/Setting: addressed to Prairie yet fronts north onto Arlington, this being accomplished by a side entry (west) off of the front porch, terraced corner lot (ground drops away to the east), drive in rear (south). 8. Narrative Statement of Significance: Original Owner/Builder: Charles A. and Louise Lantzsky? Building History: Charles A. Lantzsky lived here as of 1915-18 and built a garage here for $400 in 1915 (Telegraph-Herald, December 26, 1915). S. A. Atherton owned the parcel when it was sewered c.1889. This property was earlier addressed as 194 Arlington. Charles A. Lantzky lived at that address in 1899, the first directory listing. He was treasurer for Lantzky-Allen Shoe Co. 9.
