7. Narrative Description:
This property is located in the West Eleventh Street Historic District. Style/Year: pre-1872, single-story
frame side gable vernacular cottage on raised stone foundation.
Physical Description: rectangular plan (26x26), walkout basement to east and south, two-story full-width
front porch (4x25), elongated Italianate style windows on main floor front, unusual wood lintels and sills
on basement windows, faux asphalt brick cladding, offset entry with two-piece transom light. Walkout
basement left side. Stone foundation.
Alterations: re-siding as noted, porch columns “bricked in” as well, stonework stuccoed. Permits note
re-roofings in 1982, 1998, new garage 1973, soffits, fascia and windows sided 1975, handrail replaced,
deck enlarged, attached 10x11 gazebo with bridge 1987 ($3,000), porch flooring and guardrails
replaced 1990, sliding door replaced with two windows 1997, exterior fire exit 1999.1947, 1967, 1996,
re-siding in 1947, re-decking in 1996.
Landscaping/Setting: placed on very steep hill, ground level plunges down to the south, fronts east.

Building History: The first directory listing places Daniel P. Mullen here in 1899 at 27 Spruce. Michael
Adams was here 1918-21.
