StyleNear:c.18741 this is surely the most many-designs lived house in the city. It presumably started out as a side gable single residence plan with centered rear wing and a full-width front porch and remained the same through 1889. In its second life it gained a centered gable roof dormerl side dormer and southeast corner baYI along with a broader open front porch with brick piers and a projecting pedimented gable roof entry porch. In its final version it was apparently an institution or very large apartment housel gaining a large matching west wing and a smaller east wing. The institutional phase is hinted at by the provision of large apparently open porches. These were paneled off with reduced window insets. Styles were likely ltalianate or vernacular originallYI Neo Classical c.191 O. Physical Description: the rear wing exhibits voussoir brick window arches that have been shortenedl there is a rear cellar doorl part of the original plan. The east end is of interest because of the incorporation of an ornate chimney base into the corner bay and wall. It has its own brick foundation and was an alteration. The larger porch had its own basement as is indicated by two bricked in basement west side openings. Stone approach steps are very well executed with rounded newel posts and cap stones. The front dormer is sheeted with stamped metal shingles. The L-plan core consists of a 39x32'6" rectangle with a 27x29'6" rear wing). A two-story east wing off of the core measured 9x14. A two-story west porch wing measured 30x26. A centered entryway measured 4x81 a bay to the east 3x101 the front porch wrapped around the front on three sides and had a 56' frontagel 27'6" east frontagel and 39' west frontage with a depth of 8-9' I a northwest corner enclosed porch measured 8x12. Alterations: Permits note re-roofings in19691 1993 (partial)1 1994 (front porch)1 1995 Crear bungalow"). Landscaping/Setting: part of a very large parcell and part of a complexl level terracel ground falls off on every sidel fronts south. 8. Narrative Statement of Significance: Original Owner/Builder: Wilbur E. Robinson owned 1874-1880. 1. C. Lawler lived here 1902-08. George W. Myers was here 1909-45 and it became the Hollywood Apartments (16 units) in 1945(Bowerman). Building History: F. A. Hancock lives here 1899. The E. D. Norris Estate owned this parcel when it was sewered and in 1873 when it was subdivided. Contains five three-room apartments 1971. Siro and Gus Bogas owned the property pre-1955 and sold it to Demetra and Gus Bogas in 1964. The former presumably converted the building to apartments. Assessor notes Ilcare taken original purchaser price $201000 then converted to apts. 3 Bldgs Extensive Remodeling." Stone foundation. Alterations: 1950 Sanborn shows as rectangular plan with no wingl full-width front porch. Landscaping/Setting: in northwest corner of large complexl fronts south. Building #2, Narrative Statement of Significance: Building History: late date indicates that building was moved in. The E. D. Norris Estate owned this parcel when it was sewered and in 1873 when it was subdivided. Building on ground by 1971. Core building 32x38 with 2x21 right hand pavilionl 6x21 porch in front of samel single-story brick east wing 17x321 two single story rear bedroom extensionsl 11 '6"x8 (west) and 15'6x8 (east). Alterations: 12'6"x5'6" coal bin and stairs alongside south side in northeast rear corner demolished between 1955 and 1971 (erased on latter drawing). Building #3, Narrative Statement of Significance: Building History: 1909 Sanborn map shows only a small garage or shed in the northeast corner of the parcel. The E. D. Norris Estate owned this parcel when it was sewered and in 1873 when it was subdivided. Contained five bedrooms in this building as of 1971. 9.
