Cable Franchise FeesMEMORANDUM February 10, 2003 TO: FROM: SUBJECT: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members Pauline Joyce, Administrative Services Manager Cable Franchise Fees A question was asked at the first budget hearing regarding the fund balance in the Cable TV fund. I have prepared a summary of the fund balance that indicates uncommitted funds by fiscal year through the five year capital improvement period. Cable Franchise fees go into a separate fund and are used to support operating and capital expenditures. The operating budget costs include: Cable TV Operations, Health Department secretarial support, a pro-rata share of the maintenance costs for the annex building, · the public information and graphics arts cost centers · Information Services network specialists, and · A pro-rata share of general liability deductible expense. Cable TV funds are used in the capital budget for fiber optic connections and for replacement of cable related equipment. These funds are also used for cable related studies and legal expense as approved by City Council throughout the year. The fund balance at the end of FY 2007 is anticipated to be $71,042.
