Narrative Description: This property is located in the Jackson Park Historic District. Style/Year: pre-1884, shingle style embodied in gable front recessed window with rounded sides, gable front overhang. Designer/Builder: Physical Description: recent restoration better identifies style than that of Queen Anne. Gable front two-story frame rectangular plan with raised stone foundation and water table, brick ground floor, Craftsman enclosed entry porch, second floor off-center rounded oriole with single centered bracket, bracketed gable front with shingle cladding, projecting north side centered gable wall dormer. Brickwork includes a rusticated brick upper band, a broad brick voussoir window arch, and a double brick belt course at the sill level (stone sill). These treatments continue around the south side wall. Five rooms and two bedrooms on each half. Alterations: Craftsman porch is likely later or alteration of original. Brick first story might indicate enlargement from cottage to house. Landscaping/Setting: elevated parcel (30x150), foundation serves as retaining wall, nearly abuts building to south, open to north, bluff behind. 8. Narrative Statement of Significance: Building History: Mrs. Platt Smith owned parcels 9-10, Lot 655 as of October 1889 when the block was sewered. Permit for demolition no date (building to north?). 1899 – Mrs. E. H. Busley here. 9.
