Narrative Description: This property is located in the Jackson Park Historic District. StylelYear: pre-1889, Shingle style (rounded turrets, gambrel through cornice centered front dormer (originally wood shingled), open second floor porch balcony). Physical Description: two-story frame side gable (or gambrel?) rectangular plan with separated rear wings and shallow square cut side wings on both side walls. Raised stone foundation with water table, ground level front corners are cutaway and the voids are capped with paired corner brackets, a gambrel roof centered broad through cornice dormer projects beyond the eaves line and subsumes an open, twin-round arched second story balcony. The main front porch is then recessed beneath this balcony. The porch retains original turned posts and decorative elements and the upper balcony has a largely intact half-open balustrade. Windows are paired on either side of the fa<;ade. Twin turret roofed half round dormers flank the main dormer. The whole has been resided with faux asphalt brick siding, obscuring the original wood shingle cladding, visible on the turrets. Upper lights on the dormers contain 16 square lights, an unusual feature. Alterations: residing and addition of twin end porches with French concave metal roof caps. Permits note re-roofing 1940 (348) repair of front porch 1979, replacement of porch floor and rail, 4x30, 1995. Landscaping/Setting: the parcel rises slightly in elevation to the southwest. The duplex fronts northeast. 8. Narrative Statement of Significance: Building History: J. G. Peterson owned the parcel when it was first sewered. 1899 G. M. Nix lives here. 9.
