1. Approve Minutes of August 6, 2009
Motion by Schilling to approve the minutes as printed. Seconded by Takes.
Motion carried 3-0
2. Establish Passing Point and Certify List for the Position of Accountant
Motion by Schilling to establish the passing point for the position of Accountant
at 70 and above correct answers. Seconded by Takes. Motion carried 3-0.
Motion by White to certify the list as read. Seconded by Schilling. Motion carried
3-0.
3. Establish Passing Point for the Position of Police Captain
Motion by Schilling to establish the passing point for the position of Police
Captain at 74%. Seconded by White. Acting Police Chief stated that his
recommendation was 70% versus the 74% recommended by McCann.
Commission Member White questioned why they were not going with the
recommendation from McCann and Associates. Commission Member Schilling
withdrew his motion pending the outcome of the discussion regarding passing
point. Tobin responded that he was trying to get the largest pool of candidates.
He stated the process would be that those individuals with a passing written
score would then be interviewed by a committee consisting of senior
management members of the Police Department. The written score and
interview score would then be combined and the top ten individuals would be
recommended to the Commission for certification.
Police Officers Kevin Klein and Martin Steil stated they were in agreement with
the 70% passing point as it provided a more competitive field of candidates.
Motion by Schilling to establish the passing point for the position of Police
Captain at 70%. Seconded by White. Motion carried 3-0
4. Request to Schedule a Promotional Examination for the Position of
Equipment Operator I
Motion by Schilling to schedule a promotional examination for the position of
Equipment Operator I for Monday, September 21, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. with the
application deadline being 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 14, 2009.
Seconded by White. Motion carried 3-0.
5. Request to Schedule a Promotional Examination for the Position of Medical
Officer
Schilling moved to schedule a promotional examination for the position of
Medical Officer, that McCann Associates be used as the testing source, and that
the rules for eligibility remain the same as used in the past. He further moved
that the application deadline be 12:00 Noon on October 5, 2009 with the test to
be administered at 6:00 p.m. on October 21, 2009 at the Fire Training Center.
Seconded by White. Motion carried 3-0.
There being no further business, meeting adjourned at 2:47 p.m.
