Van Milligen, City Manager SUBJECT: Plat Approval -Greyhound Park Road & Admiral Sheehy Drive DATE: September 14, 2009 The City Engineering Department has received a request from City Attorney Barry Lindahl for the platting of Greyhound Park Road and a portion of Admiral Sheehy Drive. The platting of these streets has been prepared by IIW Engineers & Surveyors, PC in conjunction with obtaining a better legal description for the Dubuque Greyhound Park lease and establishing an official right-of-way for the roads. City Engineer Gus Psihoyos recommends City Council approval of resolutions approving the plats. I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council approval. chael C. Van Milligen, City Mana er FROM: Gus Psihoyos, City Engineer DATE: September 11, 2009 SUBJECT: Plat Approval -Greyhound Park Road & Admiral Sheehy Drive INTRODUCTION This is in response to a request from City Attorney Barry Lindahl for the platting of Greyhound Park Road and a portion of Admiral Sheehy Drive. The platting of these streets has been prepared by IIW Engineers & Surveyors, PC in conjunction with obtaining a better legal description for the Dubuque Greyhound Park lease and establishing an official right-of-way for the roads. DISCUSSION The Iowa Dubuque Racing Association (DRA) has requested a minor amendment to its lease boundaries to address the landscape plantings that they currently maintain and the electronic signage that is located at the end of Greyhound Park Road. A part of the lease boundary amendment includes deleting the existing roadways from the current lease area. The attached plats create lots for Greyhound Park Road and Admiral Sheehy Drive which will be recommended to be deleted from the lease area at a future meeting. RECOMMENDATION I would recommend that the plats of Lot A in the Southwest Quarter of Fractional Section 17, Lot A in the Northeast Quarter of Fractional Section 19, and Lot A in the Southeast Quarter of Fractional Section 18 all in Township 89 North, Range 3 East, Stn PM in the City of Dubuque, Dubuque County, Iowa, be approved. ACTION TO BE TAKEN The recommendation of the City Manager approving the plats of Lot A in the Southwest Quarter of Fractional Section 17, Lot A in the Northeast Quarter of Fractional Section 19, and Lot A in the Southeast Quarter of Fractional Section 18 all in Township 89 North, Range 3 East, Stn PM in the City of Dubuque, Dubuque County, Iowa, be approved through the adoption of the enclosed resolutions.
