StyleNear: 1887, Queen Anne style, modified by alterations. Physical Description: mixed 1.5-2 story frame side gable plan with turned southeast corner tower and bellcast hip roof, a south gable roof wing, south-facing shed roof dormer. Raised stone foundation, several rear additions. Alterations: resided with aluminum siding, eaves cut back, all detailing lost, windows downsized and replaced, porch built in. Permits note re-roofing in 1943, 1973, 1989, roof repairs 1967, repair fire job in building 1933 ($325), re-side 1948. Landscaping/Setting: uphill parcel, ground rises to the north, house fronts south. Stone retaining wall to the east. 8. Narrative Statement of Significance: Special Significance; J. K. Farley residence Original Owner/Builder: J. K. Farley built a two-story frame dwelling at 295 17th Street for $3,000 (Herald, January 1, 1887). Building History: permit for re-siding, $175, 1948. Jesse K Farley was secretary/treasurer of J. P. Farley Mfgr. Co. 9.
