7. Narrative Description:
This property is located in the Jackson Park Historic District. StyleNear: pre-1872, two-story side gable
brick vernacular duplex.
Physical Description: rectangular plan, eaves extend beyond end walls, west end wall chimney, raised
stone foundation with water table, straight stone lintels, sills, symmetrical fenestration, paired and
centered entrances (original double doors) with transoms, original short and narrow hip roof porch with
turned posts and decorative grille (original?). Blank end walls.
Alterations: windows replaced. Permits note re-roofing in 1972, 1978, 1983.
Landscaping/Setting: level parcel, fronts south.
8. Narrative Statement of Significance:
Building History: appears on the 1872 birds eye view, the only building on this side of the street on this
block. Demo permit for 345-347 West 17th, no date. No sewer data found.
