In response to a request from the Iowa Department of Transportation for the platting of
excess state property and dedication of right-of-way for McEvoy and Curtis Streets, City
Engineer Gus Psihoyos recommends City Council approval of the plats of Lots A and D
of Bonson and Stewart's Subdivision.

This is in response to a request from the Iowa Department of Transportation for the
platting of excess state property and dedication of right-of-way for McEvoy and Curtis
Streets. The plats of the proposed dedication have been prepared by the Iowa
Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) since they are in the process of subdividing
and selling excess right-of-way in the immediate area.
DISCUSSION
The attached plats show the areas proposed to be dedicated for right-of-way for
McEvoy Street and Curtis Street. The abutting properties are owned by the City of
Dubuque and the State of Iowa.
The area being platted is divided into two (2) lots. Lot A is an area for a proposed
hammerhead at the end of McEvoy Street. Lot D is the eastern end of Curtis Street
adjacent to Bryant Street which a cul-de-sac has been constructed as part of the US
Highway 20 improvements.
RECOMMENDATION
The City plans to construct a hammerhead on Lot A at a later date. Lot D will formalize
the Curtis Street right-of-way. The balance of the previous parcels will be disposed of
by the Iowa DOT.
I would recommend that the plats of Lot A and D of Bonson and Stewart's Subdivision
be approved.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN
The recommendation of the City Manager approving the plats of Lots A and D of
Bonson and Stewart's Subdivision be approved through adoption of the enclosed
resolutions.

Whereas, there has been presented to the City Council of the City of
Dubuque, Iowa, a plat dated the 20t" day of May, 2009, prepared by the Iowa
Department of Transportation, describing Lot A of Bonson & Stewart's
Subdivision in the City of Dubuque, Iowa; and
Whereas, said plat conforms to the laws and statutes pertaining thereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the plat dated the 20t" day of May, 2009, prepared by
the Iowa Department of Transportation, relative to the real estate hereinabove
described be and the same is hereby approved, and the Mayor and City Clerk be
and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute said plat for and on
behalf of the City of Dubuque, Iowa.
Section 2. That the City Clerk be and is hereby authorized and directed
to file said plat and certified copy of this resolution in the office of the Recorder in
and for Dubuque County, Iowa.
