Narrative Description: Architectural Style And Key Stylistic Elements: Italianate style two-story gable front L-plan, paired brackets, side hall plan (right side with double doors), narrow hip roof entry porch, unusual three-sided one story bay with stone foundation balances porch, inset side porch on ell. Fenestration vertically aligned but window pairs opposite entry are grouped. Soldier course brick and double edging runs at springstone level on each floor and forms a symbolic lintel above windows. Single attic light. Physical Description: 35x29 L-core plan, 19x8 corner porch, 17x16 rear wing, full water table, stone foundation, original or early porch survives. Alterations: Bay might be of later date. Building Permit Cards: 1932- remodel 2 story brick bldg- $100- owner: Dr. C.W. Powers- contractor: Floyd Wagner Outbuildings: Hip roof garage, weatherboard, 1915, 21x18 Landscaping Notes: rd Iron fence, on shelf, drive to north, last surviving house on west side of Burch, north of West 3, fronts east. Evaluation: House surveyed by Kriviskey in 1979, rated “2” as “an interesting example of a variation on a common local style.” 8. Narrative Statement of Significance: Historical Notes: Francis H. and Alma Carberry build two-story brick residence on Burch (Herald, January 20, 1886). F. H. Carberry owns lot when sewered 1893, Lot 1. City Directory Notes: (103 Burch Street) Frank H. Carberry, U.S. Gauger, Customs House, 1886-99 (listed Burch, head of Fenelon 1886) Samuel Edwards, 1908-19 Vacant, 1921 Historical Image Notes: 1909 Sanborn Map: This house appears (103 Burch) with front and south side bays, right-hand porch entry and an offset rear wing with extension. 1909/36 Sanborn Map: Same with garage in northwest corner.
