7. Narrative Description:
Architectural Style And Key Stylistic Elements:
Classical Revival style gambrel front 1.5-story cottage based on a combination gambrel/hip roof core,
with shed roof porches on the front (partly recessed) and front east side. There are matching gambrel
roof side wings and a broader rear gambrel roof wing that extends further west. It has a west hip roof
dormer. Retains narrow clapboard.
Physical Description:
43x34 core, side bays, original narrow clapboard, stucco foundation, window surrounds have upper sills
Alterations:
Very well preserved.

On edge of high overlook, ground falls to south, next to elevated railway, foot of street, drive to west,
fronts north.
8. Narrative Statement of Significance:
Evaluation:
House surveyed by Kriviskey in 1979, rated “2” as a “virtually unaltered, this excellent designed smaller
structure is an excellent example of an uncommon architectural style.”
Historical Notes:
Clifton B. Trewin and Pearl Trewin built $2,500 new residence on Fenelon Point, 1897-same live here
as of 1897-1921 (Herald, January 5, 1898). Clifton Trewin was a partner in Leathers & Trewin
(abstracts, real estate), partnered with W. A. Leathers who then lived at 769 Fenelon Place. Trewin
was also the secretary/ treasurer for the Fenelon Elevator Company. As of 1899 the house was
addressed simply as Fenelon Point.
