Architectural Style And Key Stylistic Elements:
Italianate style two story brick gable front side hall plan (right side entry), 2/2 elongated windows
survive in lower front, real working shutters (not original but rounded tops to fit arches), three-sided
cantilevered single-story bay at rear of east side wall, single-story rear wing, two-story west wing at
back of plan
Physical Description:
32x30 L-plan, 20x6 front porch
Building Permit Cards:
Probable loss of brackets, porch replaced (original porch would have been smaller, shallower, perhaps
just an entry hood).
1980- chimney removed
add to SF frame dwelling - $9500-owner: Eldon Loats-contractor: Dick Loetscher
1983-replace front porch-$1500
1987- 12 x 28 wood deck on rear-owner: Eldon Loats-contractor: Dick Loetscher-$2000

Historical Notes:
Jno. W. Markle owns Lot 17 when sewered 1891. Another source says, Chas. Sassy owned Lot 16.
J. Markle, south side Fenelon near Summit, builds two-story brick dwelling with all modern
improvements, $2,000 (Herald, October 31, 1875).

The 1909 Sanborn map shows the house as a two-story L-plan with full-width front porch, east side bay
and a centered small rear entry porch.
The 1909/36 Sanborn map shows the same, and adds an attached rear garage.
