SUBJECT: Revision to Section 44-201 Ia) and Section 44-202
INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this memorandum is to submit to you a copy of a
proposed ordinance change for your review and approval. This ordinance change
would revise paragraph (a) of Section 44-201 fixing water rates for residential and
industrial use and Section 44-202 fire sprinkler service of the Code of Ordinances.
DISCUSSION: It has been recommended in our budget request for FY '04 that a 3%
rate increase be implemented. The old and new rates are shown on the following
pages.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff and I are recommending that the attached proposed
ordinance change be reviewed and approved by the City Manager and City Council
with the effective date of July 1, 2003.

ORDINANCE NO. 13-03
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE, IOWA, SECTION 44-201 (a), FIXING WATER RATES FOR
RESIDENTIAL, COMMERCIAL, INDUSTRIAL, AND ALL OTHER USES.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. Section 44-201(a), of the Code of Ordinances, City of Dubuque, Iowa is
hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 44-201 (a). Residential, Commemial, Industrial and all other uses.
(a) Commencing July 1, 2003, the rates to be charged for water for residential
commercial, industrial and all other uses and purposes by any person, firm or
corporation within the City shall be fb(ed and determined as follows:

DUBUQUE, IOWA, SECTION 44-202 FIRE SPRINKLER SERVICE.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. Section 44-202, of the Code of Ordinances, City of Dubuque, Iowa is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Section 44-202. Fire Sprinkler Service.
(a) Commencing July 1, 2003, customers who have fire sprinkler service shall be
billed for this service on a monthly basis. This monthly charge shall be included
on the customer's regular monthly bill for which charges are fixed and
determined as follows:
