Narrative Description: Architectural Style And Key Stylistic Elements: Italianate style two-story brick gable front side hall (left entry with transom) plan, round attic light, paired brackets, wrap-around porch Physical Description: L-plan with wing to rear, 34x24 core, heavy straight stone lintels, round attic light Alterations: Porch is later addition. Building Permit Cards: 1983 – erect add to Single Family frame dwelling-$8,167-owner: Rick Beecher-contractor: Ted Maiers Construct [second floor on earlier rear brick wing?] Outbuildings: None. Landscaping Notes: South of alley, cut stone retaining wall, drive to south, open yard to north 8. Narrative Statement of Significance: Historical Notes: Joseph Culbertson owns when sewered. City Directory Notes: th Abram S. Bunting is first listed 1856 as living on the “right side”of 5 between Hill and Prospect. He is listed on “Somerset” on the hill, 1857-58, and Summit on the Hill, 1858-59. Bunting was a notary for the Langworthy Bros. In 1868 he was a bookkeeper for Knapp, Stout & Co., and is listed on the th east side of Summit, between 5 and Fenelon. Homer F. L. and Samuel Bunting are listed (118) in 1886. Joe M. Culbertson, saw filer, 1890 (118) J. L. Culbertson, (118) 1899 Emil Schneider, 1921-55+ Historical Image Notes: An 1897 photo (Souvenir Gems of Dubuque, shows with present porch. The 1909 Sanborn map shows the house as 118 Summit with a broad wrap-around front porch. The 1909/36 Sanborn map shows the same, and adds a garage in the southeast corner of the lot.
