As you may know October is Disability Employment Awareness Month and this year, to
recognize the individuals within the Dubuque community with disabilities, the Diversity
in the Workplace Committee and Project HOPE have created Disability Mentoring Day.
Fifteen local individuals with disabilities have been placed, according to their interests at
local businesses for a job shadowing experience on October 21, 2009. The day will begin
with a welcome breakfast at Hillcrest Wellness Center from 8:OOam-9:OOam where
participants will have the opportunity to meet their mentors for the job shadowing
experience. Following the breakfast, the participants will be transported to their work
sites where the job shadow experience will be from 9:15am - 10:00am.
I invite you to join us for the breakfast portion of the morning to recognize and support
the individuals within our community with disabilities, as well as the efforts being made
to provide them with employment experiences. Again, the breakfast will beheld from
8:OOam-9:OOam at the Hillcrest Wellness Center located at 225 W. 6th Street.
