INTRODUCTION
The attached resolution authorizes the award of contract for the Salt Dome Conveyor
Project (CIP #2502153).
BACKGROUND
In the fiscal year 2010 Capital Improvement Project budget, funds are allotted for the
purchase and installation of a conveyor system in the salt storage dome at the
Municipal Services Center. At the City Council's September 8t" meeting, it approved the
initiation of the public bidding process for the Salt Dome Conveyor Project. The City
Council also set the public hearing date for said project for September 21St. The public
hearing was subsequently held on September 21St and no objections were received.
DISCUSSION
Engineering plans and specifications for this project were prepared by Kueny Architects
L.L.C of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. Kueny is the firm that designed the Municipal
Services Center and the salt storage dome earlier this decade. This project will include
the construction of a conveyor pit, installation of a salt conveyor system, modifications
to the electrical system, and modifications to the roof panels of the storage dome.
Completion of this project will provide for quicker and safer dome-loading operations,
and allow full use of the building's design capacity.
