Re: Chamber Foundation Request to Upgrade Technology in Boardroom
Dear DRA Grant Committee:
Over the past year, City of Dubuque staff have attended and facilitated various
meetings in the Chamber of Commerce boardroom, including many for the America's
River project. It has become increasingly apparent that when a meeting involves the
use of audio/visual equipment it is necessary for the meeting facilitator or Chamber staff
to make previous arrangements to borrow a projector or other equipment needed. In
addition, presentations must be projected onto the wall as the boardroom lacks a
screen, microphone and proper lighting for such occasions.
This boardroom has been an important location to host receptions for federal, state and
international dignitaries visiting the city. It has also been used for the continued
promotion of the America's River project, Dubuque Regional Airport meetings,
convention bidding, and classes offered by the Small Business Development Center, to
name a few. It is for these reasons that I support the Chamber Foundation's grant
request to improve the technology capacity of this valuable meeting space.
