The City of Dubuque has contracted with the Dubuque Regional Humane Society for
more than thirty years. Providing a place for the City's Animal Control Activity to take
stray animals is an important service to the Dubuque community. The Humane Society
staff works well with City staff in assisting owners to claim their animals and on
investigations involving both organizations.
Another important aspect of our partnership with the Dubuque Regional Humane
Society is their input on City policies and ordinances. Humane Society staff have
provided input for recommendations on the potentially vicious animal ordinance, license
fees and processes for claiming impounded animals. The Humane Society has also
helped to lead the planning process with City and County officials for a local "Animals In
Disaster" plan.
The City of Dubuque supports the Dubuque Regional Humane Society's grant
application to the Miccio Foundation for veterinary equipment for spay and neuter clinic.
