Continuum sculpture petitionFebruary 19,2003

FROM: Friends of "Continuum" Committee
We have concerns that the "Continuum" appears to have been discarded at the city
garage. This sculpture, commissioned as a downtown landmark three decades ago,
deserves to be a part of the revitalized downtown. The name tells the story of a
continuum that embraces the past and reaches to the future therefore making a statement
for the vision of the newly revitalized downtown. Having completed the Town Clock
Plaza, which shows the pride and vision of our city, it is time to include the displaced
"Continuum" within our master plan.
Om' recommendation for the best location for "Continuum" is at the entrance to the Art
Sculpture Garden being planned at the new America's River project.
Other suggestions for placement include: · Flat Iron Park in the circular grassy area surrounded by the new plantings.
· Located on one of the comer entrances to Washington Park.
· In one of the green spaces included in the America's River project.
· In the green space on the eastside of Locust before A & W, Oky Doky
· Outside the Dubuque Museum of Art
We are available to discuss these issues and alternatives at your convenience.
