Subject:Dubuque, International Hospitality
Dear Mayor Duggan and Dubuque leaders,
I am writing to express my thanks to you and the citizens of Dubuque for the
excellent hospitality that you have extended to our international guests.
Currently, IRIS has four participants living with host families in the
Dubuque area. They are also learning about local government from the city
administration to local schools.
Our program IRIS (Iowa Resource for International Service) has had a range
of journalists, small business development specialists and now local
government personnel, experiencing America through Dubuque over the past ten
years. Each of them has commented on the special feeling they gain in
Dubuque. They sense the pride and community spirit that exists among
professionals and volunteers alike.
We look forward to working together in the future, but want to offer a
special thanks to people like Tom Yunt, Susan Gwisada, Randy Peck, Lisa
Fuller, Betty Hogan, and David Olson for their important contributions.
Along with them, the home hosts and countless persons we don't know have
made a significant contribution to international understanding and peace.
Sincerely,
Bob Anderson
IRIS President
