Architectural Style And Key Stylistic Elements:
Vernacular two-story gable front frame, side hall plan, window sets. Usually these examples date to the
later 1890s (picture window below paired window set) but this one might date to c.1888-89 depending
on interpretation of 1889 view.
Physical Description:
30x22 core, rear chimney
Alterations:
Resided, aluminum siding, metal entry canopy, concrete porch base

1989 – erect 16 x11 wood deck on side/rear SF frame dwelling-owner: Richard Kelley-$928.

Five-room flat, 46 Broadway, offered for sale 1904 (Herald, May 18, 1904).

No 1890 listing this address (Lucinda Converse is listed #44 1886 but likely an earlier house).
Jos. F. and Mary Schaettgen, 1901-21, machinist, CM&StPRR. He works as a machinist for Regatz &
Schaettgen as of 1902, for CM&St. Paul RR 1908.
Florence Ludwig owns 30 years as of c.1955.

The 1889 Bird’s Eye View possibly shows this house as present.
Not mapped for Sanborn map series.
1891 Sanborn map shows 1.5-story frame rectangular plan, south centered bay, rear wing offset north
and porch, as 44 Broadway. 1909 map shows same plan, somewhat broader, no south bay, as two
stories. Same building with garage to southwest 1909/36.
