Narrative Description: Architectural Style And Key Stylistic Elements: Originally this was an excellent Classical Revival style single-family residence but it has been converted into a two-story parapet front block with center entry, gable roof canopy, single story frame corner storefront to right front, shed roof two-story porch fills left front of plan. Physical Description: 61x36 core, 21x26 storefront Alterations: Original roof and exterior was completely removed or covered with a replacement flat roof, loss of all porches, etc. Single-story storefront added southwest rear corner. Composition siding or asbestos siding, aluminum siding on store wing. Only a band of basement windows survives on the south wall (center). Building Permit Card: 1944 – remodel frame dwelling-owner: Melitta May-contractor: Theodore Kintzle-$7000 1966 – reside-owner: Bob Mentzer-contractor: Dubuque Insulation -$1,495 Outbuildings: Garage (aluminum siding, concrete block), 14x20, 1930 Landscaping Notes: Garage set forward on street, house has deep setback and fronted onto Couler. 8. Narrative Statement of Significance: Historical Notes: Joseph Zimmerman, builds $5,400 house at 130 Broadway (Herald, January 1, 1895). Joseph Zimmerman owns when sewered in 1897.
