Van Milligen, City Manager ..� FROM: Gus Psihoyos, City Engineer �;;���_,s', DATE: February 23, 2018 RE: Acceptance of Water Main Improvements at the South End of Manson Road in Dubuque lowa INTRODUCTION The enclosed material provides for City Council acceptance of the water main utility improvements that Marty McNamer completed in 2012 across Lot 1 of McNamer Acres being located at the southerly terminus of Manson Road in Dubuque. BACKGROUND In 2012, Marty McNamer completed installation of approximately 1,500 lineal feet of 8" diameter PVC water main and appurtenances through the property at 2319 Manson Road in Dubuque as per City of Dubuque standards & specifications. The Kristin K. Woodward Trust Dated December 9, 2010 is the current owner of the property at 2319 Manson Road which is described as Lot 1 of McNamer Acres No. 3. The current property owner is requesting that the City accept said public improvement at its February 19, 2018 council meeting. The City Water Department is aware of this request and is amendable to the City's acceptance of said improvements. The project has been completed and has been insp�cted by th�e water d�epartment. The praperty owner would IikE to now dedicate the approximately 1,500 lineal feet of water main on the subject property. DISCUSSION On January 19, 2018 the owners requested City's acceptance of the said water main improvements. It has been determined that the public improvements have been completed in conformance with City specifications. The property owner has also granted the City of Dubuque an easement to facilitate the future operation and maintenance of the utility. RECOMMENDATION I would, therefore, recommend that the City Council accept the public improvements as described above. Maintenance of said public improvements shall be the responsibility of the City of Dubuque. ACTION TO BE TAKEN The City Council is requested to adopt the attached resolution accepting the water main utility improvements across Lot 1 of McNamer Acres No. 3 from the Kristin K. Woodward Trust Dated December 9, 2010. Prepared by Nate Kieffer, PLS RESOLUTION NO. 50-18 ACCEPTING WATER MAIN IMPROVEMENTS ON LOT 1 OF MCNAMER ACRES NO. 3 EN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA Whereas, in 2012 certain utility improvements including approximately one thousand five hundred lineal feet of water main and appurtenances were installed by Martin J. McNamer on Lot 1 of McNamer Acres No. 3 at the south end of Manson Road in the City of Dubuque, Iowa; and Whereas, the Kristin K. Woodward Trust Dated December 9, 2010 is the current owner of the property described as Lot 1 of McNamer Acres No. 3; and Whereas, Kristin K. Vaassen, as Trustee of the Kristin K. Woodward Trust Dated December 9, 2010, has requested that the City of Dubuque accept the dedication of said water main improvements across Lot 1 of McNamer Acres; and Whereas, the improvements have been completed and the City Manager has examined the work and has filed a certificate stating that the same has been completed and are in conformance with City specifications and has recommended that the improvements be accepted by the City Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA: Section 1. That the recommendation of the City Manager be approved and that said public improvements on Lot 1 of McNamer Acres No. 3 be and the same is hereby accepted.
